Bio:

Say Mayfire is a keyboardist and sonic performance artist from the United States, a contemporary indigenous artist of Chahta Okla. They have performed and exhibited in locations such as Boston, Chicago, Cork City, Fort Worth, Oklahoma City, Waco, Albania, and various locations in the rural midwest United States. Of Say’s accomplishments, they are a cofounder of the Trauma Box Collective –– an Irish-international collective of experimental sound artists –– and are a performer in the experimental F.M. duo with violist Freya Downey. Additionally, Say has been prestigiously named a Bill Gates Scholar and a Choctaw-Ireland Scholar. Say has taught piano and music to a wide range of students from young beginners to seasoned adults. They specialize in experimental and improvised musics, incorporating elements of free jazz, classical, and experimental sonic art into their teaching. Further, Say believes in building a safe, inclusive studio space for students to perform without pressure of failure, emphasizing a world of musical exploration and play over unachievable perfection.
